Ok, so we got a couple inches of snow today. Not bad, but very icy roads. I’ll take it though.
Tech - One of the first news article I saw this morning was about a Gmail Exploit. I have to say, the authors of the referenced article could’ve handled this with a bit more discretion… I did a quick test this afternoon and the exploit already seems to be fixed. I don’t run anything mission critical through my Gmail account, but I have to confess it is darn handy – and I sure like the ability to easily search it. Works great for various mailing lists that I’m on. (if you’re one of the 3 people that still don’t have beta accounts, drop me a note and I’ll hook you up).
Yesterday I mentioned Microsoft’s malware detector thingy and was a bit confused. Well here’s the poop: Apparently, what you get via WindowsUpdate is a “run once and discard” kind of deal. But if you go to the Malware Remover site, you can repeatedly run it. There are other ways to run it from the command line, but I”ll just stick with the web flavor for simplicity.
Gaming - Uh oh, losing the desire to play EQ2 again. Now what?!? I made the mistake of installing Fraps to check my frame rates and help me ‘tune’ a bit. Gah, my video card truly suffers if I want the game to look good… and I’m too cheap to rush out and buy a better card. So, either I learn to live and love anywhere from 6 – 20 fps, or… something. I dunno. (D) So, in news that will surprise few, I bought one month of the All access thingy so I can get to both EQ and EQ2. Been kind of hankering to get back to my little shadowknight twink.
Work - Made progress on some project fronts, and spent entirely too much time mired in drama. And that’s all I’m gonna say on that topic. Looking forward to a very dry martini this evening.
