Monday Tech – a voyage of discovery

Ok, first off… what the heck?!? www.google.com/microsoft Um, so what’s the deal with that? I saw somewhere someone said there’s similar for linux and unix, but those don’t seem to be there. How odd.

In my continuing efforts to find good desktop search tools (I still favor copernic’s product) I stumbled over something called Beagle today. Now, as near as I can tell, this is still linux only (and I’ll be installing it soon) but, while searching around a bit, I came across an article that would indicate a windows version may exist. Now, the even more exciting piece of that article is that there’s gonna be a windows port for Evolution!!! Now THAT excites me bad techie self. But wait – what the hell? When did Novell buy Ximian (original Evolution company)? Where was I? How come I wasn’t notified? Hmm… that’s always been one of my favorite linux email clients (gui one at least). The novell site has me confused, but I get the feeling it’s not free anymore… Boo hiss.

I’ll assume Thunderbird for Linux is tolerable next time around I guess.
