Yesterday was mostly all about getting the home network back to a functional state. It took a few trials at it, but I finally got win2k3 server up and going in a happy fashion(ie useful) and began the work to get all the clients configured as well. The way windows stores user profile stuff caused some interesting challenges, but I think I have most machines switched over with minimal loss of configs thanks to some brutish hacks and registry finessing (or however you spell that). Hopefully later today I’ll get all the file shares back up, the login script going again and printer hanging off that server again. I haven’t switched over this web server yet - of all the machines involved, this is the one that scares me…
Been fighting the stomach flu since yesterday as well. Kinda thought I had a bug the last part of last week, but it would kinda come and go. Yesterday it came to stay. Yucky yucky stuff with lots of narsty old stomach cramps. ^_^ Yesterday was a good day to just kinda sit in a chair and not move much. I was so caught up in my little server and client issues that I missed most of the superbowl on TV - although, in my defense, I did follow a lot of the play-by-play action via the miracles of this interweb thingy. Was a good game of what I saw - nice and close.
Wife had some excitement at work last night, but since the corp office hasn’t released their statement I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say. So for now, in the interest of cowardice…. I’ll say nothing
Got our Vonage stuff today from UPS. Our phone system will soon by powered by broadband. Slick stuff and the quality seems pretty good too. Big plus - I no longer hear KOA am over my cordless phones! Check out their website for more info and advantages - the price is what hooked me. I figure we’ll save a minimum of $40 a month using this. If you think you want to sign up, contact me and I’ll send you the referral email and we can both save a few bucks.
On the EQ front, at some point this weekend (Sat night?) my little Shadow Knight got to lvl 51. To celebrate the birthday I pretty much emptied my bank on him and am now completely broke. Life is simpler this way - no more shopping. ![]()
