I’ve mentioned these folks before, but SysInternals released a RootKit checker this week. Odds are, you might want to go have a look. They explain it much better than I can… but suffice it to say this goes along with my rather steady whining about the evils of spyware/malware and other icky such stuff.
I think I’m going to send out email to all of the folks at work tomorrow strongly encouraging them to go grab the free MS AntiSpyware beta (yes, I know - I’ve mentioned it before) and install it. I’d like to suggest they also go get AdAware and Spybot S&D but I reckon I better understand their licensing a bit better first. While free for home/personal use, there may be wrinkles for corp use. Why does this come to mind? I seem to be seeing an awful lot of odd toolbars and pop-ups on some folks machines as I wend my way through the office’s convoluted halls. The thought of someone having a trojan or keylogger abso-effing-lutely terrifies me.
