Grab Bag of tech stuffs

First off, my new favorite Firefox skin: Silver Skin. I dig it and it makes me happy. It gets top billing tonight because I’ve forgot to include it for the last week. :D

Another scary newspaper article about computer security. I’m pretty sure I can say it doesn’t draw any surprising conclusions, but worth a read (and from the home town rag even!). Honey Pot experiments are kinda fun, never know what will find ya first.

Google’s interesting desktop searching tool, cleverly named Google Desktop, was released again and with more options this time. Looks a bit more compelling. AND it supports plug-ins now. For instance, there’s already a Trillian plug-in for it. I’m hoping for a Gaim plug-in soon. Gonna download this one and try it out again. I’d been pretty happy with Copernic’s Desktop Search, but what the heck.. I’ll try Google’s again.

A while back I mentioned Ruby on Rails and included a link to a little tutorial. There’s now a Part 2 of the tutorial series. Fascinating stuff and I really want to find time to play with it more. The part two article has a link to a great blog entry with more details – amazing the useful articles you can find in blogs!
