TANJ - revisited

To wrap up last night’s post about my ailing gaming machine:
All better now. Spent a lot of hours running various scanners and utilities. Didn’t really get a hint until I wanted to back some stuff up to my domain server (win2k3 Active Directory). Couldn’t connect. “Huh,” says I cleverly. Rebooted THAT machine (I call it franken-puter, it’s a total hodge-podge of old and spare parts) and suddenly my gaming rig boots up nice and fast as it should.
The AV stuff never found anything.
The fix for my Everquest freezing was simply to exclude my EQ directories from the real time scanner. Now it runs like buttah.
