What next from the factory at google? Would you believe Google Earth? This one’s more than just a browser app, but oh is it ever soooo fun. You run it on your desktop, be sure to check the specs first… This is a seriously fun program to play with. And once I Since I got this new laptop, I’ve been wrestling with trying to get it to run the automated Office Updates thing from Microsoft. It failed every time with the message, “Office Update is unable to check for updates.” I theorized that was related to the fact that when I got this laptop, it Code name: Acrylic What is it? Apparently ms’s foray into the image editing market (again?). Apparently it is in beta and it is free. So what the heck, I went and downloaded it (well, dl’ing right now). Don’t know much about it beyond it’s based on something they bought a while Another laptop died here last week (/whine /whimper) so we’re one short. Why did it die? Really not sure, but I’d say it’s related to the busted AC adapter end that was reduced to wedging bare wires just right… that many sparks and power losses probably isn’t healthy. Now here’s a couple of interesting articles. I saw this article in the Register first, followed closely by another at Gizmodo. Some clever folks figured out a relatively simple way to get some of the XP Pro features with XP Home. Down side? Gotta do it before you install, so essentially you modify |
