XP Home to Pro?

Now here’s a couple of interesting articles. I saw this article in the Register first, followed closely by another at Gizmodo. Some clever folks figured out a relatively simple way to get some of the XP Pro features with XP Home.

Down side? Gotta do it before you install, so essentially you modify a file, burn a new CD. Oh - and can’t install Service Pack 2 to it — way around that is to slipstream the install onto your install CD. If you’re about to install Home and wish you had some of the Pro features, I’d wager some googling around would turn up more info if “slipstreaming” means naught to ya… but that’s the extent of links I intend to provide.
