A bit more on the Google Portal: It rocks. Made it my start page even (*gasp* replaced slashdot?!?) . Really nice feature? You can add your own content to your portal by pointing it to an RSS feed. So, all the blogs I monitor are now modules on my google portal. And Slashdot
Quite nice. I just realized I should check my web comic sites and see if they do feeds too. That’d be nifty.
A week or two ago, I mentioned a new Pocket PC product called Sidewindow. Looked really cool. Finally got around to trying it out earlier this week. It worksvery slick and simple to setup. i just couldn’t figure out what to do with it! My mp3 player didn’t really fit in that window — I could make the window a higher resolution to fit bigger things, but then I couldn’t read them. (X). I dunno, it’s really a neat idea, but for me, it is an idea without a purpose for the moment. I’ve uninstalled it.
Still pondering blog software. No real decisions yet. I really would prefer to find a .Net solution, but so far not seeing much that appeals. Found one (Presstopia) that’s close, but lacking some features and found another (Community Server) that’s awesome - and overkill. I dunno, but in the meantime my mad little comments spammers seem to have gone away or have been defeated by this blog’s abililty to ban by IP address.
I DID stumble across some other nice stuff though. These guys over at iisworks do some pretty interesting stuff. I’ve already played with (and liked) their photo gallery application (ListPics), but I hadn’t realized they had an ASP mail client WebMail) and file manager (FileMan) as well. In fact, the file manager is just the ticket to simplify getting pictures to the photo gallery. Ad the email client would be an easy way to get to my solo tech mail from anywhere. I hope to play with these more in the near future!
This last bit isn’t an actual followup. Internet Explorer 7 is out for beta. As a member of MSDN, I could go get it. I just need to decide if I *want* to…
