The folks at opera are celebrating 10 years. Part of the celebration involves free licenses for one day! (you might have to click around a bit to get the free part to show up). Several years back I was a paid/registered Opera user and liked it quite a bit. Although I do recall Rumor’s have been flying around about Google and IM. Well, according to this place, it will be announced tomorrow – and can be used today. Google have released the latest incarnation of Google Desktop, now version 2. So far, I like it. Grabbed it yesterday so haven’t spent much time with it yet, but the initial impression is very favorable. Some nice new stuff – the plug-in for Outlook is quite groovy for the work email, that’s for sure. Tons of the “Mars will be awesome viewing this month” emails going around. However, turns out it’s a hoax – some info on that in today’s Astronomy Pic of the Day. Have to admit, I was wondering about it — especially after my daughter noted it sure seemed similar to the email I picked this one up over at Slashdot. There’s another new portal option to play with. This one is from Microsoft. They’re calling it an “incubation experiment” and so far, it seems pretty slick. You have to click around a bit to get the hang of it (tip – click “Start”…). |
