So many options

A few months back, I was slowly migrating all of my daily reads over to Google’s Portal. I liked it, it seemed slick. Then I found Microsoft’s Start.com. Regardless of who made it, turned out that I liked that one better. So I’ve spent more time recently making that one my main page.

Now tonight I was aimlessly wandering around on Tipmonkies when I came across a reference to netvibes. At first glance, it looks a lot like Start.com or Google’s thing. But yet… it seems like maybe there’s more here for the RSS reader? I dunno, but now I guess I’ll play with this guy a bit too.

Now, to keep it interesting, while I was looking into NetVibes, I stumbled across a reference to “Windows Live” (beta). Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!? MS have multiple apps in the same space? It rather looks like a variation of Start.com – but mentions Firefox support isn’t all there yet.

Ok, NetVibes is COOL. I’ve been setting up feeds and I really like how it handles them. Now if I could figure out how to get a Dilbert feed like Start.com has… ;-) That’s really about all I’m missing (granted, it would be nice if Peter at Motyka.org got something going for feeds over there… /hint /hint….). (ok Peter, to be fair… IE likes your RSS feed. It appears to just be Firefox that pukes on it. Haven’t hit it with Opera. Yet.)

Just to keep the variety rolling, keep an eye on Zoozio. Not much there yet, but yet another playing in this “desktop”/”web 2.0″ ( a term I hate) space.

Found an interesting article about Windows Live – check it out at TechCrunch. Apparently there’s more there than met my eye.

[Much later - Sunday morning]
More options! Protopage and Goowy too. Goowy is a bit interesting as it isn’t Ajax, but rather Flash based. Protopage appears to be more of a desktop type thing instead of a “list the feeds”.
