QuickTime stuff

Recently I reloaded my “main” PC here at home. Just the other day I had a QuickTime movie to look at and realized I hadn’t installed that player yet. Imagine my disgust when I realized I had to suffer through a bundle job. “Oh sure, you can have the free QuickTime, but we really know that you want iTunes too.” Like heck, I do — but there was no way to dodge it. I got iTunes installed. And, 1 minute later after a run to Add/Remove Programs, I uninstalled iTunes. Heh. Showed them. But still, I was rather peeved about the whole thing…
Well, for next time, here’s a link from apple of the standalone installer.
However….
Today on Digg I saw a post about QuickTime Alternative 1.66 released. Following that link gets you to the Free-Codecs page for the same. Anyone messed with this one?
