Reading PDF mags on the Pocket PC

A few days ago I wrote about some digital magazines that are delivered in PDF format. I commented that I’d probably read them on my Pocket PC. Well, after downloading and installing a couple different versions of Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC, I admit defeat.

Does Acrobat Reader for the pocket PC work? Sure and the latest v2 version seems like a very nice (and a bit overdue) upgrade.

However, these magazines are put together in a fashion that just doesn’t scale well to the tiny screen of my older unit (IPAQ 4350). I can’t seem to get things sized to be readable enough to not squint. :-\ Ah well, was worth a shot.

Ubuntu eh? Locked it down yet? How hard was it?

:) Still running it via a virtual machine, but spent most of the afternoon with it in full-screen mode just “pretending” it was installed on my machine.

Didn’t port scan it yet, but the install does NOT dump a bunch of services on you, so I suspect it is reasonably secure. Since I’d have it behind a pair (don’t ask) of hardware firewalls, I’m not too concerned… I haven’t checked to see if there’s any software firewall action going on as part of the base install yet. That would be interesting to know.

Kudos on the nicht rauchen thing and if you were to gmail me the two pics you wanted put together it’d give me something to do in hotels this coming up week.

So… two hardware firewalls eh? *grin*

I’m in firewall experimentation mode ATM. Can’t find any that will let me play an MMORPG that’s a port-slut without locking up my computer tighter than scrooge mcduck.
