Google’s Firefox Extension

The folks at Google released the Blogger Web Comments for Firefox extension this week.

Blogger Web Comments for Firefox is an extension that makes it easy to see what bloggers are saying about a page you’re viewing in Firefox and even make your own blog post about it, all without leaving the page you’re on.

Truly a neat idea. Now, as I read the FAQ for this, it began to lose some of the luster. As I don’t use Google’s Blogger service for my blog, this extension loses half of the potential usefulness — I can see what other bloggers are saying about the site I’m on, but I can’t directly make my own blog post. Granted, I can still do that the way I always have, so it isn’t the end of the world. But… i worry then about my comments getting picked up for others to see.

Will play with it a bit and see what I think. Conceptially, this isn’t all that different than all of the assorted “social bookmarking” sites out there, but not nearly as intrusive. I think?
