VMware is such fun

A month or so ago I wrote a little article that mentioned VMware and the VMware player. To follow up on that, my free 30 day trial of the full vmware has since expired — and I’m proud to say I’m not running a cracked version (not that I would ever condone such madness, mind you!). Instead, I switched to the free vmware player as I had planned. Ya know what? The player is pretty dang slick. And there are more and more free OS images to download each time I go back (be sure to check out the community area if you follow that url).

However, the downside to my approach is that I had to anticipate every virtual machine I might need before my 30 day trial of the full version expired and get them installed and built, then switch to player.

I should mention that I do plan to buy a full version of VMware soon — hopefully in ‘06 even.

Until then, there’s a little work-around (isn’t there always a work-around?). Check out this article found at “J_K9 Linux” — I found it repeatedly on many tech sites in December. People seem to like it! I know I do. ;-)
