Man, I know I’m a z-lister at the far right of the long tail, but even the spammers are leaving me alone now! Not even sure what happened, but I used to trap a handful of spam every day. No more now. Now I see a couple a week trapped. Unless Akismet is weeding ‘em out before I even see them? I’m assuming not… that’d be wrong. Come to think of it, the spam slowed down about the time I switched to Wordpress 2.x and akismet. Odd.

Earlier today, Rich (who’s posting style I’m swiping for today!) commented on how not in love with ie7beta he is. Fair enough. However, I thought I’d address one point he raised:
I don’t like the top bar at all on 7.0b2. I don’t like that I can’t move it.
Gotta say, I was pretty much on board with that sentiment. Until I right clicked up there an unlocked the toolbars. Then, I added the “Links” toolbar so that I could get back to the convenience of having my favorite gunk just a click away. One the toolbars are unlocked, you can drag ‘em all over heck. Much more bueno.

J_K9 posted a nice little shell hack for linux today. It rings vague memories of the nifty stuff we used to do when I was a corporate AIX programmer 15 years ago, and I definitely will be using this on my linux server…

Speaking of Google, this new-fangled Google Talk integration with email has one little wrinkle that tripped me up a few times before I twigged: it don’t work if you’re at gmail via SSL (https). Have to be regular old http. I wonder why?

And finally, did everyone find the new nmap 4 release last week? Many changes and nifty “interactive” features — even works well with XP, fer pete’s sake.

I should’ve been more specific. I can’t move it out of the way. The Home, Tools, Print buttons should be up top by the arrows but I can’t get it there. I can put them on the right or left side of the screen, but I don’t want them there. I want a row of tabs, just tabs, but I don’t get that. I get a row of buttons, then tabs. And the buttons are sometimes expandable and sometimes not. Sometimes they all show up and sometimes the &Tools button is gone completely and I have to choose customize and move it up and then back down to get it to show up again. Yeah, I know it’s a beta.
Been playing with airset for a while now and setting up Calendars and Group Calendars.
