Trying out FeedShare

The folks at Rojo announced FeedShare late last week and I figured it’d give it a go and see what it is all about. Assuming I’m still experimenting when you read this, you’ll see it up and running on the right side. From their post:
It works like this: you put Feed Listings on your site (see the sample at the right) to promote other blogs in the network and in return your blog is promoted on similar sites. For every page view you give the blogger network, you get one back. We like to think of FeedShare as a powerful Karmic exchange.
In other words, remember LinkExchange from the 90s? This feels like that all over again! But I like the concept and, in theory, you might find folks listed in the FeedShare section that you’d find interesting. And, in theory, folks might find me from a listing on another site as well. That much I sure like.
Of course, there’s always a wrinkle to consider. Like, maybe some day they’ll run ads through this. While I’m not opposed to ads — I have the Yahoo! ads going, after all — if Rojo runs ads, is that going to cause problems for all the folks already running Google and Yahoo! ad programs? I’ll have to reread some terms, but I was thinking there were some “exclusivity” phrases in the terms & conditions…
Pretty neat so far though.
[a few days later]
Removed it as I realized I was seeing the same dozen or so blogs in the posts. Well, that and I’d really like to be able to style it a bit, but my question regarding that (in the feedshare forums) hasn’t received a response yet. Maybe I’ll try again after it grows a bit.
