David Drake, David Weber, Eric Flint, John Ringo…that’s the order of discovery for Baen authors…once you are done reading everything by them, you read all the others…but those four are the basis of modern SF {btw, you and Rich need to read Asimov’s coments about “sci-fi”

Good stuff, to be sure. I used to have a link to that on my old (and long gone) “pocket pc / e-book reading” web page.

But… which author’s to try? I have this odd “phobia”… I hate to try a new author cold — without someone nudging me in that direction. But, I see much new stuff there so… I’ll poke around a bit I suppose.

well lookie there… if you check out baen’s site, and then snoop around until you find the “Free Library” you can download a couple of their offerings in e-book format for the everyday low low price of NOTHING!

I’ve grabbed a couple for my trip to Connecticut.

http://www.dodgenet.com/~moonblossom/heroesof.htm has some links to classic fantasy and GREAT information about the worlds et. Ignore the fact that it’s made by a friend of mine. I’m unbiased as always.

BTW: I know it’s not sci-fi, but I can’t remember the last sci-fi author I read and loved… Orson Scott Card, but it was YAEN (Yet Another Ender Novel) so it doesn’t really count.

I anxiously await your findings on the stuff you read.

Uhm….read my blog?
Almost any author from Baen’s stable would be a good read (I can’t say all because I haven’t read them all)…I particularly enjoy David Weber, David Drake and John Ringo…they are, IMNSHO, the best “new” (Weber and Drake have been writting for ages, but I found them 3 or 4 years ago) talent in SF.
