Performancing, metrics and Firefox

Saw that the Performancing folks rolled out their free metrics beta today, so I went and signed up. My numbers are on the small’ish side compared to some, but I’m always interested in metrics. Too soon to tell what to expect, but seems like it should be interesting. Very curious to compare it to Google Analytics which I’ve been enjoying up to this point.

These are the same folks that have been offering the blogging plugin for Firefox. I’ve had it suggested to me a few times recently, but hadn’t quite gotten around to checking it out. I suppose, since I’m here, i should give it a look?

Performancing for Firefox is a full featured blog editor that sits right within Firefox. Just hit F8 or click the little pencil icon at the bottom right to bring up the blog editor and easily post to your Wordpress, MovableType or Blogger blogs.

I realize I’m a bit behind the curve on this one… but it does sound interesting. External posting utilities make me nervous for some reason. Haven’t figured that out yet…

[update] um, wow! That thing is slick. I’ll be looking a bit closer at it in the very near future.

Speaking of Firefox, i see the 2.0 alpha’s code freeze is this Thursday. Progress!

I have been using Flock for my blogging…and it’s a very nice tool…the only defect it has is that it’s not my primary browser, which makes it a bit of a PITA when I’m writing a new post and need URLs and things like that from my regular browser (firefox).
So…now I’m gonna have to try Performancing and see how it goes…thanks :)

Ok, I found the first problem with performacing compared to Flock…it doesn’t auto-trackback. When I write a blog with a link to your blog, in Flock it does the trackback to the linked post when I post it on my site…with Performancer, it doesn’t happen…I’m not sure how I feel about that, yet

Brings up an interesting point. I NEVER (ok rarely) use the trackback field when writing a post in WP. Pingback seems to happen automatically so I just don’t sweat it as WP handles ‘em similarlily enough.

So, are you saying you do the same, but those aren’t automatically happening? That’d be a bummer.

Yes, I’m saying that Flock does the trackback thing automatically, but Performancing doesn’t seem able to do it on its own…the trackback that shows up here was done by hand {in the Posting Preferences or whatever, you add the url for trackbacking)…and I’m still not sure if I like that or not.
On the other hand, it being part of my main browser is a big big BIG plus for Performancing, so…I’m using it until I get pissed off at it for the trackback thing lol!

My post last night included a link to this post. I didn’t fill in the trackback field in performancing, but there’s my reference to it right above your comment.

For me, that’s sufficient (I assume that’s a pingback, but I still really dunno the diff between a pingback and a trackback!).

Oh, and contrary to what you might have read on some SEO forum, this is not a "Do Follow" blog.
