TechCrunch – What the heck…

I’m one of the many thousands of folks subsribed to TechCrunch’s RSS feeds. As a rule of thumb, this has been a “go to” site for all things related to Web 2.0 (regardless of how you define it). Which is good, it matches the “about” statement:

TechCrunch profiles and reviews new web 2.0 products and companies.

Last night a new article about “TrustedID” was posted. The first two paragraphs read like a press release and the rest left me scratching my head. This doesn’t seem like a “Web 2.0″ thing. It reads much more like an infomercial, to be honest. A bit distressing — and the comments so far seem to indicate that I’m not the only one puzzled. Give them a look.

I’m trying to decide if this was more of a Public Service announcement or a (*gasp*) sell out.
