Apple Bootcamp

Apparently I was deep under a rock today. I saw a few references to Apple’s Bootcamp at other sites but didn’t pay much attention. Just figured it was yet another “Web 2.0″ thing (training conference type deal) and didn’t actually read the article.
Hoo boy, I was wrong.
Can I now publicly admit to the lust that is filling my heart? I mean, I’ve wanted a Mac laptop before, but to be able to actually dual-boot windows on it? Damn…
Boot Camp lets you install Windows XP without moving your Mac data, though you will need to bring your own copy to the table, as Apple Computer does not sell or support Microsoft Windows. Boot Camp will burn a CD of all the required drivers for Windows so you don’t have to scrounge around the Internet looking for them.
Time to start saving pennies.

Uhm…why would you want to dualboot with windows on a Mac? I can understand wanting linux in there (of course
but…windows? why contaminate a pretty computer that way?
The hardware… she is sexy. The Mac OS? Sexy too. however… I have a need for more than a couple windows apps in my day to day life (aka I get paid to write windows and .net apps) so… it seems like a pretty nifty way to kill a few birds with a pebble.
Ok, you need windows…that’s what VMs are for
That’s how I have VMWare in my box, for the rare ocasions when I need to do something win related….most of my clients are mixed environments, so some times I have to see how things look from their windows side…I’m pretty sure that there are VM systems for OSX that’ll allow you to run windows on an Mactel machine.
