Sabifoo – a novel way of tracking notes
I’m guessing that I’m like many bloggers in the fact that ideas for articles come to me at goofy times throughout the day. Sometimes I remember to jot ‘em down. Sometimes I forget due to little distractions like earning a living and family.
Traditionally, I’ve used the notepad built into the Netvibes desktop and generally been quite happy with it. Lightweight and easy to use. The only down side is remembering to actually go to netvibes and make the note (minor, to be sure — but I’m easily distracted!).
Earlier tonight I saw the Solution Watch article on Fifty Ways to Take Notes. He has quite a list there and I’ve seen many of them. However, there were some I hadn’t even heard of before so I of course did some idly clicking around. Which is how I found Sabifoo and quickly became enamored of the concept.
Long story short, add Sabifoo to your IM client of choice (supports MSN, AIM, Yahoo and Jabber). Send it messages. View your messages on a custom webpage or via an RSS feed. Reflect on that for a moment — slick, eh? I may not always be at a given web site but I pretty much always have Gaim up and running for IM.
Caveat: Notes are essentially public. With a little poking around, you can figure out the “custom urls” to view other users notes. So don’t use this for “secure” things. Don’t forget to explore all the options via the “!help” command.
Very slick as a quick way to jot yourself a note and see all your notes at a later time.
