Beeplet - This could be slick

Beeplet LogoHere’s something I stumbled over last week and was just toying with: Beeplet: Timed alerts (by Stillpoint Media). Intriguing little app that strikes as something I might find useful.

Keep forgetting stuff? Need reminders from time to time? Then Beeplet is your thing.

And ya know? This might be a lot more interesting than the proliferation of online calendars. Right now the reminders are via RSS feeds or emails, but SMS and instant messages are to be coming soon. And IM is where this thing would really rock my world.

Long story short, you create a free account and add reminders. Provide an email address or grab one of 3 feeds and you’ll get notified when the time comes. Oh, and since we’re in the Web 2.0 world, you can add the obligatory tags to your reminders as well. I’m sure that might be useful. I guess.

Beeplet in actionThis shot is a little glimpse of what things look like. Note the 3 types of RSS feeds you can use in particular. And, covering all bases you can, of course, do things via bookmarklets as well. Or integrate Beeplet into your site via the API.

I’m hoping for more API in the future… Just think if you could not only receive the alerts via IM but create them via IM as well! How much would that rock? I’m thinking it would rock muchly. Or, maybe if I figure out that API I, or someone brighter, could work out a “mashup” between this and Sabifoo… that would truly be straight into the nifty category.

Take it a step further: Suppose you could send reminders via email or IM to other folks’ Beeplet accounts? That seems like it would have some interesting potential as well.
