Careful with the Vongo

I tried out Vongo last month and wrote a quick overview. Kinda nifty service, decent quality and just not something I’d use enough to justify the price. I signed up on July 12th and cancelled on July 22nd (even have the email to confirm the cancellation). 10 days into the 14 day free trial.

Imagine my surprise as I was doing monthly reconcilliations to see that $10.50 charge on my credit card statement. From July 28!

I called this morning and talked to a very nice lady who seemed thoroughly bemused as to how such a thing could happen. She could see the cancellation request. She could see my account was cancelled. She could also see that I was due for monthly renewal at the end of August. Whoa… So, she’s reversing the July charge and working with her supervisor while I patiently wait to hear confirmation that I won’t be calling them each month.

Moral: Save those cancellation emails! Without mine, this might have been a lot more of a pain in the rear.
