From a thread at the Hamachi forums:
If you have been following the news in the past few days, you probably already know that we were acquired by LogMeIn Inc. Formely known as 3AM Labs, these are the geeky people behind Remotely Anywhere and LogMeIn as well as a bunch of other interesting products in the areas of remote computer connectivity and management.
It continues with quite a bit more, extolling what a great deal this is. There is also assurance, lower in the thread, that there will remain a free version of Hamachi (*phew!*).
LogMeIn has a “Dear Hamachi Users” page up as well. And a Press Release.
An interesting merger. I’m curious to see if Hamachi will continue to be a stand-alone product or if it will slowly go away as it is folded into the LogMeIn products. I’m hoping the former.
[Previous mentions of Hamachi] [I guess I last looked at LogMeIn on the old blog, now lost in the mists of time... sorry, no link]

Another Hamachi fan checkin in here. I found this on eWeek; it’s a podcast with the founder of Logmein. He addresses a lot of concerns about the purchase, and reiterates that Hamachi is going to stay free. Phew is right! I’m a big fan of both companies though and I think that “logmein hamachi” as it’ll be called will work out nicely.
