IE7 Release Candidate 1

IE7 LogoMicrosoft announced that IE7 RC1 is available today. You can find it at the usual IE page.

Be aware that the RC1 installer will detect beta versions and remove ‘em before installing (nice). What else to expect?

The RC1 build includes improvements in performance, stability, security, and application compatibility. You may not notice many visible changes from the Beta 3 release; all we did was listen to your feedback, fix bugs that you reported, and make final adjustments to our CSS support.

Oh, and with luck, it’ll detect out of date add-ins that have been known to give folks problems with the beta releases.

In theory, unless big bugs are found, this is very similar to what will be shipped when it goes final. If you’re in the web app/design field you probably want to take a look. If you freak at the notion of losing IE6 for the duration of your testing, remember that ie7 can be uninstalled. Or got get yourself some free Virtual PC and build a testing image.

[update]  How about an IE7 Quick Reference sheet?
