Something’s Going On at BlinkList

blinklist logo There’s an odd post up at the BlinkList blog titled “The End of Social Bookmarking (at BlinkList)“. As a BlinkList user, this is a bit disconcerting…

How’s the “Social Bookmarking” game coming along?

Whether or not you are one of the “social bookmarking” players, or an observer, you have to admit… it sucks.

Even the name “social bookmarking” sucks. Bring that up to impress your date!

“Bookmarking” is no fun. And it’s associated with clutter. To go from “bookmarking” which is boring and tedious to “social bookmarking” just alienates even more users because people only get the boring part. [...]

Hrmm… this follows announcements about recent improvements and changes. More speed, improved look and feel, more RSS feeds, etc. And this:

What’s next? There is a lot more to come! The next major improvement will be “BlinkList Spaces” which we alluded to in another post and which we hope to be launching shortly.

Another hrmm… BlinkList Spaces? While wondering that that is, I wandered over to the BlinkList google group and found this post inquiring about “Domain Tags” and their purpose. “Mike” answered twice (or two people are using the “Mike” account!) but the second response was this:

We have had to take this out since this is for a new “super cool” feature we will be rolling out shortly. It has to do with “BlinkList Spaces” but I cannot yet reveal anymore info. :-)

Curiouser and curiouser. Should be interesting to see where this ends up — as long as I can still user it for bookmarking!
