Small MojoPac update

I tried to have a look at MojoPac a couple weeks ago. I had no luck primarily due my non-standard windows installation location. Bummer
Curious to see if any progress had been made on that front, I swung by their forums this evening to find them closed for remodeling. However there’s an announcement up with lots of good information about recent fixes and enhancements to MojoPac. And this bit here:
We’d also like to clarify that we are still working on a fix for another bug – namely that MojoPac won’t work on machines where Windows is not installed under the standard directory of C:\WINDOWS (for example, machines where Windows is installed under D:\WINDOWS or C:\WINNT). The fix for this is not part of MojoPac 1.0.1, but we will keep you posted on the status of the fix.
Sweet.
Sure, there are many other ways to do many similar and interesting things with USB drives, but based on some of what I’ve read around the web this really looks like something I want to play with. Maybe it’s just the name? Perhaps someday soon I’ll have a shot at it.
Looks like the forums are due to re-open on the 12th of this month.
On a side note, does anyone know anything about this moka5 product? Similar to MojoPac?

If I carry around a windows system on a stick without some sort of protective layer won’t it just get spyware when I plug it in? The moka5 LivePC engine seems really neat. I made a Windows LivePC and although you take a performance hit because of the virtualization, I think the extra measures can protect it from the garbage floating around on the internet. There seem to be new LivePCs popping up on their site because I found this one http://www.moka5.com/node/255 , the “Fearless Web Browser.” It gives you the basics for web stuff on linux with encryption and anonymization. Its also way smaller than my windows.
Hi Marie, I played with moka5 a bit since I posted this article. It’s pretty interesting as a “front-end” for VMWare player. Not quite uninvasive though — vmware needs to install the networking/driver stuff first time you plug in the device.
Hopefully I’ll have time to write up some additional thoughts and impressions on it soon.
Hi Chris,
we have latest version out - 1.0.2.5. It would be great, if you can try and let us know any feedback.
Thanks
