Last.fm updates for October ‘06

I’m a few days behind on this one, but I just noticed that Last.fm rolled out some updates recently.
The part that excites me the most is the new music player. Gone are the days of having to download the last.fm client to the current machine you’re using. Instead, there’s a nice little flash player option. Love it.
The other options aren’t quite so exciting (to me) but others might be interested in the events tracking stuff. Not a whole lot listed there yet for my neck of the woods. But if folks adopt, perhaps it’ll get more interesting over time. There are also free downloads (seems to be mostly “indie” type stuff) and the “taste-o-meter”…
Every user page now shows a tastometer box, which tells you at a glance how musically compatible you are with the profile you are viewing.
Ok, that one is a bit weird (anyone else hear 70’s porn music?) but fun to play with as I click through other Last.fm user profiles.
Worth a look if you’re a music fan and/or previous user of Last.fm.
