Google Apps for Your Domain – New Start Page

Google Logo Ten days ago I wrote a post about some of my experiences with Google Apps for Your Domain. Today, Google has a blog post up announcing a new feature: A Start Page.

With this, organizations can provide a dynamic and unique-to-you central access point for essential information. Setting it up is quick and easy — much like setting up a Google Personalized Homepage — but with custom logos, colors and your organization’s own content, in addition to modules from our gadget library. Then each of your users can take your organization’s default page and change it up so it’s just right for them.

It sounds pretty cool. My only problem is once I’ve logged into my GfYD account, I can’t find any mention of this start page. Maybe it hasn’t been rolled out to all servers yet?

My fear is that I’ll have to activate the “Domain Web Pages” service. I really hope not — I already have hosting that I’m happy with. Although I suppose I could do a sub-domain maybe? Something to play with later!

[update several hours later:  I created a subdomain and configured it in the GfYD dashboard, but still no option for this start page thingy]
