Google Page Creator Gets Some Attention

Google Page Creator Logo The Google folks put out a blog article titled, “Simplicity and Power.” Don’t know about you, but new features for Google Page Creator wasn’t the first thing that came to mind — but indeed, that’s what the article is about.

I first wrote about GPC this past February. Reading that old post, it would appear that I liked it. Yet, I never really went back to play with it… For me, that’s probably not about to change, but for folks looking for a free spot to put up a few web pages, this is certainly better than some of the other ad banner riddled options. I wonder what the traffic limits are? I think 100MB is the cap for size, but I haven’t found anything about traffic yet.

Wonder what would happen if GPC site got dugg

What are these big new features from today’s announcement?

  • Image Editing — Nice big change here. Lots of ways to tweak images all wrapped up in a little inline/ajaxy editor. Fun to play with and a real boon for anyone doing online photo albums.
  • More site address options — Users can have more than just the one yourGmailAddress.googlepages.com address.
  • Mobile — Every page automatically has a mobile version. That’s pretty slick!

Oh, and somewhere along the way the ability to add Google Gadgets was added too. Can’t recall if I’d mentioned that one, but it predates today’s announcement. See my little test page for Pacman!

To celebrate the new release I tossed together a new simple little test page. There are still some validation issues, but if you look close, you’ll see that some of the issues towards the end of the list must be a validator bug, because they flat out don’t exist. Weird.
