BlinkList gets a new Blinker

If you’ve dabbled with any of the Social Bookmarking sites, you’ve probably used either their bookmarklets or Firefox plugins to make snagging new bookmarks easier. Some of these are decent, some are awkward. Some will automatically grab hilited text, some won’t. Some will show you tags other folks have used, some don’t. Some will show you all your existing tags to chose from, etc. etc. etc.
I think the new bookmarklet that the BlinkList folks just rolled out is as close to perfect as any I’ve seen yet. Well worth a look if you do a lot of bookmarking.
- Hilited text goes straight to the description. No cut & paste necessary.
- It pops up as a moveable window. In other words, it doesn’t obscure the page you’re looking at.
- All the tags you’ve ever used are just a click away.
- I do wish that showing all my tags is a persistent setting… I think.
- Works in all the browsers I currently use (seriously, that’s huge!)
I’m sure there are some other features, but those are the main ones.
While I was at the BlinkList site, I noticed another recent change: There’s a new “List View” for bookmarks. It streamlines things quite a bit by removing the page thumbnail, URL, tags, etc. In return for not displaying that, you get a lot more bookmarks on a page. Nice little feature.
I’ve bounced back and forth between del.icio.us and BlinkList quite a bit the last few months. Tonight I’m bouncing back to BlinkList.
