It’s Hard to Whine About Free, But…

At one point do you feel comfortable grousing about a free web based application? When does that not feel… cheesy?

Oh, let’s just say for instance… Perhaps there’s a social bookmarking site you really like. Of all that you’ve looked at, it stands out. It’s easy to use, pleasant to the eye and just generally comfortable. Yet, it suffers growing pains which lead to unplanned outages.

These outages, lately, seem to strike when I really need it.

Now granted, one could argue that one shouldn’t put stuff into a free service that is needed. And I’d have a hard time arguing. I would, however, point out that pretty much all social bookmarking sites are free.

Pains me to say it, but, “So long BlinkList.” I hope to come back some day, but the last month or so have just been too rough. *sigh* I feel like a traitor. I’ve mentioned these guys a lot over the past year. I’ve left and come back a few times this fall… each time more optimistic.

For now, I’ll be hanging out with the cool kids over at del.icio.us. Which, in terms of stark ugliness is probably only second to Google Bookmarks. Seriously. But it’s always been up when I’ve used it. Right now, that’s what I’m after.

Just as I finished this post, I saw an interesting article at the support forums. Perhaps there’s hope for the future.
