Netvibes Gets a Pretty Look

Netvibes Finally a Netvibes skin that isn’t pastel or Halloween: Winter Plain. I love it. In fact, this is a scheme that I’ll personally use year round. Or at least until we get more non-pastel options.

Speaking of “personal/Ajax desktops”… know what’s kind of funny? With Netvibes, I can set up 3 Gmail widgets, one for each of my primary Gmail accounts (two via Google for my Domain and one regular ol’ gmail.com account.)

Why can’t I do that at Google’s homepage? Man, that is really annoying, ya know? Or am I missing something obvious?

Maybe what I really want is a Netvibes widget for Google Reader… I liked the netvibes built-in reader a lot initially, but when you get more feeds going it becomes too much of a click-fest. With a GReader widget, similar to what Google homepage does offer, I’d be pretty content I think.

  • have to agree on the v. cool factor of the new netvibes look. It brought me back right away.

Might combine netvibes and google reader. i just can’t get attached to bloglines. It works, but I don’t like how it feels…. mainly because I keep losing posts that never show up again without having to unsub and then resub. User error I’m sure. but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to undo it. :/

*I think it’s marking them all read and I can’t find a setting to actually show the read ones. It’s bound to be there but it’s not my kind of intuitive so I can’t find it. :/ Oh well, no great loss. I only wanted to like it because so many other people do.

  • Ah, I can help with the Bloglines thing. Lord knows, I’ve done that to myself enough times.

After the post disappears and you suddenly realize you want it back… Click the feed in the right. Admire the blank list to the right.

While still admiring the blankness, check out that little pulldown labeled “Display items from the last:” Try 24 or 48 hours there.

    *poof* Feeds are back. :-)
