WordPress: WP-Cache acting funny?

February 1, 2007 by Chris · 2 Comments

A week or so back, I realized that the WP-Cache plugin was acting funny at this site. In hindsite, it probably started when I had (once again) switched back to using Spam Karma 2 as part of my anti-spam protection.

To summarize: When new posts or comments are made, the cache should update or refresh. It wasn’t, so I’d have to manually flush the cache when making new posts or as comments showed up (or wait for that page’s cache to expire).

While pondering this, I disabled the plugin. At my usual levels of traffic, it is really pretty optional. But it bugged me…

I saw the new version of WP-Cache announced yesterday. Last night I installed it, made a test comment and … nada. Same problem. I posted a comment on the announcement and priv pointed me to his SK2-WP-Cache-Compatibility plugin. It “helps” SK2 notify WP-Cache when a comment is accepted.

All fixed — Thanks Priv!

I’m used to looking for plugin conflicts when things aren’t working quite right, but this one would’ve taken me a while to stumble over.

I don’t think the Spam Karma and WP-Cache problem has been fixed. I actually posted this to Priv’s blog and my comment did not appear immediately!

Didn’t show up on my blog immediately because it was in the spam queue ;-) Perhaps similar for Priv’s?
