Second Release: Add Related Posts to Your Feed

Last weekend I released my first plugin and received some good feedback. Most of that feedback was along the lines of, “Hey dummy, we use a different Related Posts plugin, not UTW!”
Ok, I can take a hint.
So, version .02 is released with support for the w-a-s-a-b-i Related Posts plugin. That site is down this evening and I didn’t have the plugin. I found version 2.04 and used that for development. Hopefully it is current? [Updated: seems current, found it here]
My plugin will now add the output from w-a-s-a-b-i related posts to your feed . If that’s not present, it will use UTW. If that’s not present, it’ll do a whole lot of nothing and send you silly emails asking why you’ve activated it (ok, not really, but someday it might).
Note: It uses the same wasabi Related Posts options that you’ve configured for display on your blog. And I’ve made a horrid assumption that you’re putting the posts in an unordered list. Most people seem to… if you’re not and the feed looks funny, leave a comment about how you display ‘em and we’ll see if I can’t help you hack up the plugin a bit.
If the UTW version was fine for you, then you need not use this version. Nothing changed for UTW users.
You can download it from my downloads page.

Hey dummy, now you got a fantastic release …
ok just kidding, you’re definitely not a dummy, because I prefer you’re plugin over hacking my feeds files!
Thanks for the release Solo.
Thanks Ajay! Glad you like it.
Hey this is cool but it isn’t doing anything to my feed, and I’m using the w-a-s-a-b-i module. I modified the code to test it out but it doesn’t look like it’s even being executed. I moved a return statement to the top of the main routine to output some code but nothing.
Welp as soon as I type that it starts to work. WTF is wrong with me?!
Thanks for the plugin!
Ryan, Ain’t that typical? Things are always fixed right after you break down and ask someone…
Great plugin, dude !! I’m trying it out. No problems until now. Anyway, I like this. Kudos !!
hi
what about Simple Tagging plugin; in my experience it has some very nice features and is basically more independent then jeromes keywords or UTW?
or at least suggestion on what to do to implement it myself?
Hi mrak, that one is probably next up. Have had a couple emails asking about it too.
Might be a week or so, as I find some time.
The link to the plugin page does not work. Please check it.
Kalosi: It seems to be working just fine. Direct link is: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/visualize-advanced-features/
It’s a great plugin, for sure. I was directed here by Andy Beard, and I wonder, do you have a similar plugin for the ‘similar posts‘ plugin?
All the best,
David
Hi David, I don’t currently have a flavor that works with “similar posts”. If I get some free time, I’ll give it a look though.
No worries Chris. I’m sure you’re busy. Thanks for getting back to me.
Your plugin rocks Chris!
David - have you seen that Similar Posts now has a version for feeds?
Very usefull
but i am using Simple Tagging :/
Hey Max - I do hope to tackle a version of this for Simple Tagging someday. Just need to find the time to tackle it!
To be honest, right now I’m hanging loose to see what the WP 2.3 with built-in tagging will add to the scene.
Very cool!!!
i currently have the YARPP plugin to display related posts. is it possible to use it with Add Related Posts to Your Feed?
@Properity - ‘fraid not.
