Couple WP Plugins

SocialList

SocialList is a a delightfully narcissistic plugin that I came across at Weblog Tools Collection earlier today. Want to know if any of your posts have made it to Digg or been bookmarked at Del.icio.us? This’ll tell you.

By default, it will report on the last 10 posts. However, it also has a search that’ll allow you to scan through. Very fun to play with (once you find it — it’ll be under the “Dashboard” tab).

Those Crazy Hidden Editor Buttons

A few weeks ago I mentioned some hidden editor buttons in the WordPress 2.1x WYSIWYG. I’d just begun to figure out plugins and started to sketch one out that would always show a toggle to see the “hidden” buttons. It didn’t work real well…

Mark Steel stopped by tonight and fixed it up quite nicely, and then very politely and with many nice compliments made me feel about 3 feet tall. Anywho, between those two links you can find the pieces you need to make a little editor plugin. I’ve left a comment with Mark encouraging him to go ahead and release it. I’ve had several thousand visitors to those 2.1 editor posts, there sure seems to be some interest!

The button in question is the right-most one in the picture below.

Whoa-whoa-whoa-Feelings…

Oh, on the 3 feet tall bit. Ya know? When I first read it I was a bit wounded… But his points are valid and I will blush as I admit I’ve ranted the same rants over the last two decades.

I want to use the defense of that post being my first attempt at “clean sheet” PHP, but I just can’t do that without looking even dumber. You see, I’ve spent a career assuring prospective employers that programming language doesn’t matter. Heh. Hoisted by my own petard!
