Debian and WordPress

Is Debian considering dropping WordPress from Etch? The Security Team appears to be asking for just that. Have a look at the discussion and see what’s going on.

My take? My understanding is that the WP folks intend to keep the 2.0.x branch specifically for Debian and don’t intend the 2.1.x stuff to be there yet. But, assuming I’m close to being right, I don’t think all the Debian Sec. Team folks know that. Seems they’re more focused on 2.1.x and the recent security fun. Or that’s the impression I got from my initial read.

However…

Gentoo appears to not be very happy with WP either. That thread is some more interesting reading.
