No More Wallnote, New Nutshell

Last summer I stumbled over Wallnote and used it for a few months (previous posts). It was a slick little to-do list tracker and note manager. Very simple and easy to use with an interesting twist: It was “born” to run on Windows Active Desktops. Not mandatory by any means, but it did work very well that way.
It seems Vista has done away with Active Desktop. So, Alex (author of Wallnote) is moving on as well. No more Wallnote, now there is Nutshell instead.
Nutshell is very similar to Wallnote as far as task and note tracking goes. Perhaps a bit prettier? But now it adds a funky search type thing at the top of the page.
Search Google, YouTube, Wikipedia and all your other favorite websites with one super-powered search box.
The key to the search box is you start the search phrase with a keyword (a 2 or 3 letter abbreviation for a site or service). The search then takes you to the appropriate site and shows results. Pretty nifty — and not something you’d expect to see on your task management page.
If you setup a free account you can add custom searches to easily search specific sites. Since many sites have different “search strings”, Nutshell makes it very easy to add custom searches (see picture).
If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to track tasks and manage some notes — with the bonus of fancy-schmancy searching — this could definitely be the tool for you.
