Opera and Yahoo Mail beta

Courtesy of a tip from Recep Baltas, there’s now a work-around to use Yahoo Mail beta with Opera. [see No Love for Yahoo Mail Beta and Opera (still)]

Not a solution, per se. You’ll need a plugin and you’ll be using the IE rendering engine… but it’s an option!

Thanks, Recep.

Thank you very much for mentioning my solution here.

Hello. I use Yahoo! Mail Beta and I really want to use Opera. Dang Y! Mail Beta doesn’t work. I tried Recap Baltas solution but no luck. I installed the plugin (I don’t use portable Opera) and got the View in IE button, but when I click it on Yahoo! mail it crashes the browser. It works on some other pages, but not Y! Mail Beta. Please help, I really want to use Opera. It’s such a good browser!

What version of Opera are you using? I’m using 9.21 and not having any issues with Y! Mail Beta.

I’m using version 9.22. Most things appear to work at first, but then actions often either run very slowly or just don’t go through. Also, integrated messenger is completely dead :(

ah, thanks for following up. I guess I don’t actually stay at Y! Mail long enough to run into those issues.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing on another site. The author thought at first that Y!MB ran fine in Opera. It looks OK initially, but actually trying to use it is frustrating. Eventually you just have to give up. What I really want is to get that get that integrated IE rendering engine working, so I don’t have to run Opera and Fx simultaneously.
