Netvibes Gets Some Style

I can no longer whine about how boring or blah the Netvibes themes are (or how few). New customization features were introduced today!  This is a very welcome announcement.

Not only is there a new theme creator, but there are also a handful of new themes to use. The new themes look nice. Maybe I can change from ye olde Winter Plain now.

Netvibes ThemesSo far I’m liking Veerle. Not quite my usual style, but a nice change of pace.

The theme creator itself is pretty simple and doesn’t give you the ability to “tweak” the existing themes. It just changes all the background color. You can also type you color in directly if you know it.

I was hoping to be able to customize one of the preset themes, but apparently that’s not yet an option. Hopefully someday?

Netvibes Wallpaper dialogThe wallpaper stuff makes up for that to some extent. You can now change the background in either the header area or the main module area. There are some preset images to use, but you can also pull from several other services which is nice little bonus. There are also options for alignment, tiling and text color.

Now, how about a nice Google Reader module?
