Meebo has “rooms”

If you’re a meebo user, go have a look. I’m seeing “rooms” across the bottom of the page. Featured room right now appears to be for Simpsons fans. There are other featured rooms listed, along with the ability to search or create your own.
Entering a room, it appears to have some media and chat features. Flash is necessary, and flash isn’t on this mighty P2 laptop running Xubuntu (and sorry, no screenshots, I’m not that patient to edit on this thing!). I guess you can play clips though. Interesting. Oh — and it appears that you can embed a room onto a site.
Nothing specifically about it on the blog yet, just a mention of some beta testing.

I’m not sure about Meebo “rooms” yet. I’m thinking it that it makes what use to be a clean/simple interface become busy and cluttered. Thankfully it is possible to “minimize” the rooms menu at the bottom of the app. How about an option to disable “rooms” all together?
I’m pretty much with you, Peter. The rooms aren’t doing much for me (well, I think they’ve slowed down my little P2 “chat” laptop…).
I like the idea of being able to disable ‘em.
