OggSync Follow-up

I’ve mentioned OggSync a few times over the last month or so:
I’m still using it and have been getting along with it quite well recently. Shawn, of OggSync, has been a great help in offering support.
Some of my earlier issues were related to my lack of understanding the limitations of the free trial version. For instance, the meeting that I wasn’t seeing as part of the sync was more than 3 days in the future. Trial version doesn’t sync that far out!
They are considering changing the trial version to be more full-featured, but on a time limited basis. I think that is a wonderful idea. I bet it would cut down on a lot of silly support questions like my own!
I’ve also been working with Shawn to try and solve my disappearing toolbar issue. Once a week or so, the OggSync toolbar goes missing. He sent me a list of registry keys to check (before & after the disappearance) and we’ve realized that one of them is getting changed. If I just flip it back to the correct value and restart Outlook, all is well again.
He’s off researching that one, but at least getting the toolbar back is pretty simple now.
I’m pleased with how well the syncing works and I’m impressed with the level of support I’ve received. If you’re still looking around for Outlook to Calendar sync options, I’d like to suggest you give OggSync a look.

You can also check out my free utility, ActiveGcSync, at http://www.milow.net/site/projects/activegcsync/main.html
It supports two-way sync and in a near-future release, recurring events. Best of all, it’s simple, it’s free, and it works!
*sigh* Outlook 2002 and Vista 32bit doesn’t ever show the toolbar or do anything other than pretend to install.
I wanted to use it.
I tried to use it.
The same can be said for every google calendar & outlook syncer I’ve ever heard of and they continue to not work for me. Missing toolbars, duplicating entries, vanishing multi-day entries. The Palm Tx is the best there is in the palm line. You’d think there was some sort of software to make it work with google.
I had to reset a registry key half a dozen times and then… it’s been fine for a few months! Same version of software too.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\Outlook\Addins\OggSyncOutlook2003
I would have to change LoadBehavior back to 3 each time my toolbar disappeared.
Hrm…
Tried it. It was already a 3.
I think it’s because I’m using outlook 2002 which it doesn’t say it works with.
I’m just making my peace with the lack of connectivity.
I’ll wait for the google phone to come out. Maybe IT will be able to get google info off the net and into my hand.
