Paint.NET 3.08 Beta Released

Paint.NET logo Paint.NET v3.08 beta was announced today. In general, this is mostly a maintenance or bug-fix release. I’m very happy to say that one bug that was driving me nuts has been resolved:

Fixed: Pasting an image from Office 2003 applications now works (e.g. Excel 2003 graphs).

The funny thing is, I didn’t even know it was a bug! Figured it was just me…

A lot of people seem to like to send me web graphics as part of Word documents. I’ve been having a helluva time getting them out of Word into a useful format. I was particularly bemused that selecting the image in Word and pasting into Paint.NET wasn’t working.

Now I know why.

If you’re a Windows user and haven’t yet tried Paint.NET for your image editing needs, you really ought to give it a shot. It’s really quite slick — and with the support for layers it is also very powerful.

On a related note, the Paint.NET blog recently moved.
