WLW Beta 2 vs. Bad Behavior

In yesterday’s post about the new Windows Live Writer Beta 2 I mentioned that I was getting some HTTP 403’s when trying to publish. Tonight I decided to dig a little deeper into that.
First, I disabled mod_security on my web server. No difference.
Second, I disabled the Bad Behavior plugin that is a key part of my anti-spam defense here. Alas, it appears to be the issue. With the plugin disabled, I can post from WLW. Something must’ve changed with Beta 2 of WLW such that it trips up Bad Behavior.
Not quite sure how I’ll tackle this one.

I’ve downloaded the program yesterday and I’m pretty satisfied so far. The only problem I’ve had is that after 2 articles published, he refused to upload any more photos in my posts. It worked in the end with the FTP method. Other then that I love it.
I think you should report the problem you’re having to the Windows Live Writer team. This is a beta after all. Maybe they’ll fix it for the next release.
Already have an open ticket
Bit of a bummer, I used beta 1 quite a bit.
I have the same problem and will be curious to see if you can find a workaround as well. Might want to contact the developer of Bad Behavior and let him know as well.
Glad to know I’m not the only one, Lincoln.
For the moment, I’ll see how it goes with the MS support. I’m hesitant to contact Michael of BB since the previous beta of WLW worked fine… but I may eventually.
Of course one workaround would be to simply disable the BB plugin, upload a post, then reactivate it again.
A little tedious though….
I’ve been playing with other apps like BlogDesk and Blog Writer, and as much as I hate to admit it, Microsoft actually built something useful here. One thing I would have liked to seen though is modifying the way it inserts images so it automatically adds the relevant code to enable Lightbox. But since I can modify the source code, this isn’t much of a problem. Since w.bloggar appears to be abandoned now, I’ve been looking for a real desktop solution, and God help me, I never thought it’d Microsoft that would provide it.
Lincoln, you’re spot on.
I think Microsoft really nailed it with WLW. A field to add a class (or classes) to images is about the only thing I’d like to add as well.
Found a simple work-around.
