Following Up

Every now and then I write a post seeking ideas or suggestions for some sort of challenge. I recently realized I haven’t been very diligent about following up on those.
Here are a few recent posts and where I’m currently at with them
This one still has me pondering. I received some informed responses to the post, but I don’t think I was clear enough in describing what I want to accomplish. Either that or I’m making this way too difficult!
Ideas? Tracking Updates on Web Pages
I received a LOT of great suggestions for this one. After a bit of digging around I think I have my list of possible solutions down to two and neither of them are web based. Go figure.
The main issue I ran up against with the assorted free services is the fact that I may want to monitor over 2000 sites. Like the ninny that I can be, I believe I neglected to mention that in the original post. In the case of many of the online offerings, that’s beyond what’s available for free or otherwise.
The two that I’ve short-listed are:
- Internet Owl - desktop based and free.
- Update Patrol - desktop based and not free. Arguably has more features.
WatchThatPage intrigues me but I’d have to shoot them an email to check on volumes and pricing. As none of the other online offerings responded to my emails, I’m not overly confident of actually getting a response.
That’s about as far as this project will go until I figure out exactly what we’re doing with it. Thanks for the ideas!
Seeking Suggestions: Online Project & Time Management
We went with Zoho Project. Adaptation has been slow so far, but I think it’ll get a bit more focus this month. I received a comment mentioning SpringLoops — it isn’t a good fit for what I was after, but definitely intrigues me for some other projects.
Ok, this one I wasn’t really seeking input, but I do want to just quickly note that after 2.5 weeks I’m happy with my OneNote approach. I’ve made some minor adjustments to the inspirational 7Breaths blog approach to help it fit my way of approaching things. So far so good and perhaps more on this later.
