Zoho Viewer - the Latest from the Zoho Folks

Those Zoho folks have announced yet another interesting looking web app. Want an alternative to attachments? An easier way to share documents online? Check out Zoho Viewer.
Below, I’ve embedded their PowerPoint presentation that explains more. Cool, yes? (just click the player to change slides)
No user account necessary. Just upload your document and get the URL/permalink and send it to folks you want to share with. They support a big pile of document formats too.
Depending on the format your document starts in, you may be able to export and convert to other formats — including PDF. So, among other things, it makes a very easy to use PDF converter.
Again, depending on format, you may have an “Edit” option shown when viewing a shared document. In that case, clicking edit will save a copy of the document to your Zoho account for use with Zoho Sheet or Writer.
Downside? Don’t exceed 5MB for uploads. That being said, there is mention that the maximum file size will be increased. Frankly, it has to be or we’re not making much headway towards getting rid of attachments.
Of course, there’s a video with more information.
Is this revolutionary? No, not really — we’ve always been able to give folks “read only” view to our documents with Zoho Writer and Sheet. But I do find it evolutionary: It takes what we could do before and not only makes it far easier, but adds more formats as well.

This is a great tool for sharing docs. I despise the proliferation of Word documents in the office that inevitiably results in various versions that require manual merging. In my opinion, giving an online view will encourage group collaboration rather than someone making edits in a silo. Oh yeah, the embedded mode rocks too!
I’d say I agree 100% with you Peter.
I had a chance to use this at work today. Works great!
Oh, and my dad have a ppt presentation he wanted to look at. He doesn’t have powerpoint installed, but it was easy enough to upload it at viewer and he watched it that way.
Chris & Peter : Thanks!
And we have increased the upload limit to 10 MB now
