A New Content Thief

Take a look at “Beyond Web Logs” (http://www.beyondweblogs.com/). That site is just littered with old posts of mine — and hotlinked images.
For instance: http://www.beyondweblogs.com/post/A-very-quick-look-at-Mabber.aspx
Now, my Creative Commons license does indeed allow re-use of my content — but that content must be properly attributed! I hate this kind of outright theft. Neither my name nor site are mentioned anywhere near any of my articles.
I might finally break down and look into how to do a DMCA take down notice. Yes, I’m really that pissed.

He was so lazy that the link in “(and now I have 10 invites to offer, just leave a comment or email me)” points to your website, and it’s broken on his stolen copy as well as your original.
As far as the hotlinked images, throw a rewrite condition in your .htaccess to provide them with a large (3000×3000), lime green “this is a stolen graphic” image. His readers will get the point.
Henry - Good point on the hotlinked images. Got it “fixed” on one of the posts over there, if I have time will check for more. Thanks!
I won’t even bother visiting the site, I’m not going to contribute to his ’stats.
That sucks man - if you figure out how to do a DMCA take down notice could you post about it? That’d be sweet.
Snowboardjohn - I recently figured out how. Now I just need to actually do it. Stay tuned…
Resolved. I did a lot of emailing and mentioned DMCA to the host’s legal address in a message yesterday.
This morning, I received an email from the site owner apologizing. A quick check shows my posts gone.
Chris now you also try to remove this Post from your website.
