Online TV

TVI’ve been dabbling with Joost for a few months now (my first mention of it was in May). While I really liked the concept:

All the things you love about TV, fused with all the fun and interactive power of the Internet.

I just haven’t been able to get on board with the implementation. It seems like more content has been added over the summer, but as of yesterday the client will no longer run on my machine. It blows up immediately after launching. Like an omen or something…

I uninstalled it earlier today. I think the future is more about browser-based delivery than yet another client to install and maintain.

Now I’m back to trying to find good sources of video. AOL’s In2TV is my favorite resource for just finding old shows to queue up and watch (the free content just keeps growing each time I check back). Warner Brothers cartoons! Gilligan’s Island! :-)

TechCrunch recently mentioned Tubecast, which is an interesting sort of video aggregator, putting content from many sources into channels. I played with it briefly yesterday morning and thought it might be fun, but so far today I’ve not had any luck with it (perhaps there’s a TechCrunch effect bogging it down?). Something to dig into more, later.

But what of news? I need to find a decent online news channel that I can have babbling away in the background. Any ideas?
