WordPress 2.3 and My Plugins

calendar Posted on September 23, 2007   comments 7 Comments

Looks like the forthcoming WordPress 2.3 won’t be doing my plugins any favors.  :-)

  • Visualize Advanced Features — This one is no longer necessary with 2.3.  The editor button that it enabled is now enabled by default!
  • Add Releated Posts to Your Feed — This one relies on Ultimate Tag Warrior or Wasabi Related Posts. Regardless of which is in use, it doesn’t seem to work (Wasabi Related Posts does seem to work).  Still unwinding this, but for now it is on hold until I see what tagging features/plugins sprout around 2.3.

As you plan your upgrade, remember to keep an eye on the WordPress 2.3 Plugins compatibility page — and update it if necessary!

I seem to have survived the upgrade in one piece - but then I use very few plugins.

So far I’m happy with the latest version of WordPress - although I don’t think it’s that big an upgrade really.

Hey Jonathan, did you get the final release of 2.3 tonight?

The tagging introduced some large changes that are causing me some challenges. Reckon I won’t be an opening day upgrader on this one :-)

Thanks for the info. I was going to upgrade on my other blog, but now i know the Related Post plugin won’t work in combination with Tag Warrior, i will wait a while ;)!

    Cheers

WP 2.3 Related Posts seems to be a capable replacement for my old Add Related Posts to feed plugin.

one thing that I hate when I decide to migrate is, theres a number of useful plug-in that didn’t compatible anymore to new platform.. and I couldn’t find the same worthy plug-in to replace it.. but do upgrade still the best way to patch any bugs and security problem, I guess..
